“Counselling/psychotherapy is the skilled and principled use of relationship to facilitate self-knowledge, emotional acceptance and growth, and the optimal development of personal resources.” - Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association

What does that mean?

It means that counselling/psychotherapy is a process undertaken by yourself and a skilled therapist in order to learn more about yourself, to expand your capacity to manage and understand emotions, and to grow and change according to your goals.

Therapy can mean a lot of different things for many different people. For me and the work that I do, it means using empathy, understanding, and exploration to create a safe, healing space. From there, I believe in working collaboratively to move towards a more fulfilled life — whatever that means for you.

I use an integrative approach to psychotherapy, meaning that I’m interested in figuring out what your goals are, and then finding what will best fit those goals. I welcome frequent check-ins and renegotiation.
